Blackout Curtain - That s What I Want!
Blackout Curtain - That s What I Want! "I want a blackout curtain because I can,t sleep properly. I don t want any light at all". Give me a penny for all the times I have heard that. I would be a millionaire by now (well I may be exaggerating a little) but you get the idea. What I found is that most people don t want their bedroom to be so dark that even during the day you can t see your hand in front of your face. What they really want is a very dark room, but still be able to get out of bed and make it to the bathroom without breaking their neck. So how do you make your very dark room happen No.1 Put blackout linings into your curtains. (talk about stating the bloody obvious) If your good at sewing do it yourself. If not get a curtain maker to do it using your existing curtains or better still when making up your new curtains. No.2 Fit a valance or pelmet over the top of your curtains. Use a wooden top board to hang your curtains and top treatment from. "Whats a top board" (will I ever get to the end of this article with all these interruptions !). Well it s a timber board usually 15 cm wide by 1.8 cm thick and as long as your window is wide. It fixes to the wall over your window on simple "L" shaped shelf brackets. Usually set 15cm to 20 cm over your window. Your valance fits to the narrow edge of the board with velcro tape and your curtain rails fix underneath the board. (now if were all ready can I carry on ? :) This has 2 benefits. First everything hangs better. Second the board blocks the light coming out of the top of your curtains. No.3 Returning the outside edges of your blackout curtain back to the wall. What does that mean, well simply your curtains normally hang on a curtain rail. The outside edges sit against the wall either side of your window. The only thing is that light can still leak through the small gap. So to avoid this fit a pelmet board as above. Then before you hang your top treatment. Sort out the outside edges of your curtain. You need to screw a metal screw eye up into the underside of the top board. The metal screw eye must fix a couple of cm s in from each end of the board and as close to the wall as possible. Then hook the last curtain hook in the outside edges of your curtain into the metal screw eyes. This has the effect of taking the outside edges of your curtains right back to the walls blocking out almost all light from the sides of your curtains No.4 Your curtain rails are the next thing you can do something about. You need 2 curtain rails, both half the width of your window plus 15cm. So if your top board is 200cm long then you need 2 rails at 115cm long. Why 2 rails ? Well we are going to overlap them at the middle. You need to fix one rail towards the back of your top board and the other a few cm s further forward. This allows your curtains when hung and closed to overlap and block out almost all the light coming from the center of your curtains. Well I hope this article helps you with your own window treatment project. The most important thing is to take your time and have some fun. How To Stay Warm This Winter - Easy Apartment Heating Tips
If there s one thing most Canadians can agree on, it s that our winters can get pretty cold. While we put on a cheerful face by playing hockey and having snowball fights, at the end of the day, we re all dependent on our furnaces and heating systems to get us through those dark, cold months. However, winter is only as cold as you want it to be - with a few easy-to-implement winter apartment heating tips, you ll be able to keep warm and toasty when the temperature drops below the freezing mark. Close Your Windows - And Keep Them Closed The biggest single source of radiant heat loss in your apartment is most likely your windows (especially if they are old, single-pane windows). It may seem like a "no-brainer", but check all of the windows in your apartment to make sure they are closed and locked during the winter. As well, try to avoid opening the windows at all, if possible. Even if you keep your windows closed, however, warm air can still escape: · Between the window frame and the wall; · Around the edges of a loose pane or through cracks in the glass. To prevent warm air from escaping through the window frame, you can install durable metal or plastic weather-stripping between the window sash and frame. Typically, these types of weather-stripping will last for several years and do not interfere with the regular use of the window. Cover Any "Leaky" Windows To prevent air from escaping around the edges of a loose pane, caulk or tape around the edge of the loose pane where it meets the framework of the sash. Alternatively, you can cover "leaky" windows with a thin sheet of plastic to try to keep the warm air in and the cool air out. These simple "window kits" can make a big difference in reducing any drafts throughout your apartment. Always get permission from your landlord before installing anything or modifying your apartment windows. Your landlord might even pay for and make the installations for you, depending on the situation. Draft-Proof Your Doors Just like your windows, keeping your apartment door closed as much as possible during the winter will help keep the heat where it belongs - in your apartment instead of in the hallway. You can also draft-proof your doors with weather-stripping and caulking. Warm air can easily escape between the doorframe and the wall - if this is the case in your apartment, caulk between the frame and the wall. In most apartments, the vast majority of warm air is lost under the bottom of the door. Installing a door sweep or a draft-stopper to prevent air from moving under the door can prevent this loss and keep your apartment warm. These supplies can be found inexpensively at any hardware store. In addition to keeping your apartment comfortable, weatherproofing your doors and windows will also save a lot of energy as you won t be using as much heat to keep your apartment warm. Don t Block Your Radiators Finally, if your apartment has radiators, they should always be kept clean - any amount of dirt and dust sitting on top of them will absorb some of the heat that is being produced. You should also remove any radiator covers when the heat is on, as covers can block the airflow through the radiator in addition to absorbing heat. Be sure to also move your furniture so that all chairs, couches, bookcases, entertainment units, desks, beds, etc. aren t too close to your radiators or heating convectors. Don t let your drapes or curtains cover them either, as they will divert heat to the windows (and therefore out of your apartment if they aren t properly sealed) instead of into the rest of the room. While you can t avoid the cold entirely, following these easy tips should keep you a little bit warmer this winter and give you a nice, cozy apartment to come home to after a fun snowball fight or game of hockey outside with your friends. Change By Switching Business Rituals
Every morning you wake up, eat and -– most days of the week -- you go to work. By that time you have already finished a set of daily habits. But at work, there are even more waiting for you; starting with the computer: Switch on. And then, what do you do next: open your e-mail program, “You’ve got mail” or your internet browser? And in the last case, what is the start page of your browser? The (local) newspaper, presenting fresh headlines. The home page of your preferred search engine. Ready for the first search of the day; let s think... Your stock broker, with the latest investment news. The intranet of your company... There are software agents that could help you if you would like to have a random start page. Just for creativity-sake, to observe (others) and learn. Yet, this topic is about daily habits and the opening of the browser window to the world (wide web) is only one out of many daily activities that are standard. These daily habits are like rituals although they lack the ceremonial rite behind it. Where real rituals are very infrequent, the daily business rituals are not and that’s why they are important, not only for managing your daily business, but also when dealing with change. Focusing on business rituals is just another element in business management. But more relevant are they when you manage change. In that case you could make a list of all the rituals you encounter during the week and verify their current relevance. For each ritual you strike off the list, you should introduce a new one. For example; cancel the Monday morning meeting and invent the Tuesday Afternoon Team Gathering instead. © 2006 Hans Bool Hans Bool is the founder of Astor White a traditional management consulting company that offers online management advice. Window Film Helps To Solve Glazing Problems
Glazing causes many problems to overcome. They are a vulnerable spot in any home or office and a weak point from intruders, they are also a danger to anyone inside as a flying shard of glass from a broken window can cause severe injury and even death. Glass also causes problems in homes, conservatories and offices especially when monitors or TVs are being viewed as they as the suns heat can be stifling, the glare can make seeing a monitor screen virtually impossible and it also fades carpets, furnishings and displays very quickly (remember when you ve moved home and picked up a cabinet which hadn t been moved for years, you can then see the different colour of the carpet...the colour your carpet used to be before it started to fade!). Another problem with glazing can be the fast that it is clear meaning others can see straight into your house. If your house is close to a road or path this can be quite annoying, also areas like toilets and store rooms should be cut off from view from passersby. What can solve this problem... Window Film is the solution to many problems associated with glazing but it is still a product that not many people know about. Glass protection window films help to stop glass from shattering under impact. It is available in various thicknesses. The 100 micron film is designed to bring glass to safety standards (BS6206 Class B) so that if someone falls into it will hold all the harmful shards in place. 175 micron security film is tougher and as well as offering low level security in the event of a bomb blast also offers excellent security benefits against intruders - being thicker than the safety film means it can withstand a more repeated attack, the types you get when someone is trying to break into your house. The thickest film is 300 microns. This film offers high level protection against bomb blast devastation. It is designed to hold all the harmful shards in place in the event of a bomb going off or a natural disaster such as a hurricane or strong wind. All these films are completely clear to the eye so the only time you will notice them is when they are put to the test. Solar control window film can reduce solar heat by as much as 78%, solar glare by up to 91% and UV (the main cause of fading furniture) by over 98%. The solar control films are available in various shades and colours. The lightest film available is visibly clear to the eye, whilst it doesn t stop hardly and heat or glare it does stop nearly 100% of the UV rays which really helps to reduce the effects of fading on your furnishings. There are a number of natural solar control films which are available in various shades. The best films for heat and glare reduction is a reflective window film, these also have the added benefit of giving day time privacy by giving a one way mirrored effect when someone looks into the property but allowing perfect vision to the outside. All these films are ideal for homes offices and especially conservatories. There is even a special solar control film called Coolkote on the market which is designed especially to be applied to a polycarbonate conservatory roof. Privacy Window Films are available in various colours and designs, they are made to create various amounts of privacy. Totally opaque window film is available in black or white and stops 100% of the light and vision, similar to that found in a photographic dark room. Frosted window films are the most popular as they stop people seeing in whilst still allowing a lot of natural light to pass through. There are many variations of the frosted film that involve blocks and stripes helping to minimise vision whilst not totally blocking it. All in all, if you have a problem with the glazing in your home or office I m sure there is a Window Film on the market that will solve the problem.
Windows XP Backup Tool - Is It Any Good?
Windows XP Backup Tool - Is It Any Good? Considering the increased amounts of data that you save to your computer each day, more and more users embark on a quest for the most effective and reliable backup solution. However, very few know that Windows XP has its own backup utility. You may sigh with relief because this means you don t have to buy special backup software, though you should know that such software gives you a number of important advantages above those that the operating system offers. In this article we will compare a standard functionality backup program with the Windows XP backup tool (WXBT). The WXBT allows backing up all user files in just one task. If you select the option of the My Documents backup, it will copy the entire contents of the Documents and Settings folder including MS Outlook/Outlook Express messages and settings as well as your profile settings. However, in most situations full backup is not necessary. In all likelihood the My Documents folder of your computer will be large in size and contain a lot of irrelevant information. If this is the case, WXBT suggests that you manually specify files that you want to include or exclude from the backup set. A standard backup program has the option of file filtering so you don t have to manually specify each file, but rather specify file extensions of the needed files. For example, if you want to back up only the MS Word documents, you only have to specify the doc. file extension and the program will automatically find and copy all Word files. Besides, it allows doing target backup of data from specific applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Windows Media Player, ICQ etc. This means that you only have to specify the program whose data you are going to back up. When you do a backup, it is extremely important where you keep the resulting files. It is recommended to keep such files as far as possible from the local computer. The farthest location WXBT suggests is a network drive or an external drive. By default, it will even offer you to back up to a floppy drive, and that s the only removable storage it has in store for you. Now think how many floppy diskettes it will require to back up 30GB of critical information! A standard program allows backing up your data to virtually any known type of removable media including CD, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray, USB flash and external drives, as well as remote locations such as LAN, FTP, SFTP, remote online server. WXBT offers five types of backup: normal, copy, daily, differential, and incremental. To be honest, this abundance of backup types causes nothing, but confusion especially if this is your first time backup. Most backup programs offer two most common types of backup: full and incremental. These two types should be enough to meet all your requirements and cause no user confusion as the definition of the two types is very clearly stated in the program. WXBT allows backing up the System state data that include Registry, Boot files, COM + Class Registration database. However, you cannot include or exclude specific components. A professional backup program allows creating a hard drive image including the operating system and all system settings. It also has the option of copying Windows Registry and even allows backing up specific Registry components such as user keys, configuration keys etc. Conclusions Having considered the pros and cons of Windows XP backup tool, as compared to a standard backup program, we can say that WXBT is a viable solution for home computers, however the major fault with it is that it cannot back up to optical disks and allows recording your data only to a floppy disk which is outdated and does not meet today storage requirements. The main advantage of a professional backup program is that it can record your data to any type of optical disk, even the new generation disks such as Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Besides that such a program offers flexible file filters to simplify the process of data files selection. For more information on a standard functionality backup program, refer here. Automated Logistics
In any type of business whether it be a daycare, or a billion dollar retail franchise, one thing is common throughout. In each business, the owner is delivering a product or service to a customer. Many companies focus solely on the value and profitability of the product itself. This is obviously important but it isn t the only thing that is important. How the product or service is delivered is also important. Whatever your company is selling should arrive to the customer on time, ready to use and in exactly the condition that you promised. This may seem like an obvious prerequisite to running a successful business and it is, but it can be much more difficult that it sounds. The process of delivering a service from the originator to the customer is sometimes tedious and sometimes nearly impossible. This is why any business of a reasonable size should have an automated logistical system. The benefits of an automated logistical system are far too many too list here. First of all, as long the system is set up carefully, there is no chance of human error. A computer won t promise a customer a product will arrive in 2 hours when it is 5 hours from the customer s location. A second benefit is that an automated logistical system is much cheaper than having people monitor and make deliveries manually. For instance, if we take a large retail store such as Target or Wal-Mart, the benefit to them of using an automated logistical system is immeasurable. When any retail store decides to purchase items, it is done automatically. It saves them hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars a day, to order it automatically then to have people physically go up and down the isles and the warehouses checking if there is any of a particular product left and then calling a supplier on the phone and speaking the names of all the products that are needed. Even the smallest companies use automated logistical systems. These systems aren t always extremely sophisticated but they are still automated. If a smaller company only makes a few sales of a particular product, it will still have designed a program that allows an automated order to be sent to its supplier for the product to be replenished. Doing saves time and money that will be wasted manually ordering everything and will eliminate mistakes. Automated logistical systems are beginning to be the norm in today s business world and that will continue to be the case. This will make small companies become more competitive and will eliminate wasted excess inventory and employees spending their valuable (and expensive) time doing work that could be easily done by an automated system. Automating logistics is a very important part of a company s growth. Using an automated system is much more efficient than doing the work manually and is part of the evolution of a company from a start-up to a successful corporation. Automated logistics will cause less employment but in the long run will cause companies to be more efficient and will lower prices. Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Logistics
Selecting The Right Sewing Window Treatments For Your Home
Window treatments are a great way to brighten up the home and make it feel a lot cosier. However, due to the fact that there is a large amount available for you to choose from, actually selecting the right window treatments for your home can be a particularly difficult task. No matter whether you are choosing to give your window a completely redecorate, or whether you just want to spruce it up a little, the right window treatment is essential to get the look that you are after. So just how do you select the right window treatment for your home? Choosing the Right Window Treatment There are a number of things which you need to do before you can choose the right window treatment for your home. The first is knowing what type of window treatment you actually need. In order to know exactly what type of window treatment you need, you first have to take notice of the style of your window. Is it simple and modern, elegant and contemporary? The look of the window and the setting of the room will really make a difference as to which window treatment you should use. You may even want to choose a window treatment which goes well with the actual architecture of the window. Whatever you want, you need to ensure that you take into account everything about the current look of the window and the look that you are aiming for. Another important factor to take into account, is which room is the window treatment being used in? Factors such as how much moisture will be in the room and how much privacy you want will make a difference to the treatment that you select. For example, if you are planning on placing the window treatment in the bathroom, it will need to be able to stand up to high levels of moisture. So wood may not be the best option. The room will also make a difference as to how formal the window treatment will be. Once you have figured out exactly what it is that you want, you then have to work out a budget. Your budget will then determine whether you can afford to purchase made to measure window treatments or whether you have to stick with ready made ones. A way to save money if you are on a budget is by purchasing a ready made window treatment, and then cutting it down to size yourself. Overall window treatments can add a little extra character to any room, but you really do need to consider a number of factors before you rush out and purchase one. Unveiling Windows 7
With the widening use of computers in today s world, the need for updated and compatible computer applications especially operating systems continue to grow in order to meet the increasing variety of computer use as well as the technological demands of both the home and the world place. Software giant Microsoft has pioneered the creation of computer system Windows which is the most widely used commercial operating system used today. But the challenge never seems to stop for Microsoft. In a talk delivered recently at the University of Illinois, Eric Traut, one of Microsoft s operating system design engineers unveiled the next step to the evolution of the Windows core. He conducted an interesting demo of what the next version of the popular operating system would look like. Assisted by a team of about 200 computer engineers, he developed innovations in many of Windows key features such as virtualization technology like Virtual PC and Virtual Server, boot sequence, memory management, and core kernel scheduling. Although the development of the newest Windows package is yet a continuing effort, Traut managed to make a demo of how the next Windows would improve current versions of the computer operating system program and integrate recent computer technology such as multiple CPU cores, virtual machine technology and other enhancements. Codenamed Windows 7, the soon-to-be newest version encapsulates Microsoft s determination to integrate recent advancements in computer technology. Its codename is derived from the numbers of the Microsoft s internal operating system: the first of which is Windows NT, Windows 3.1, the Classic Windows or Windows 92, Windows NT 5 or Windows 2000, Windows NT 5.1 or Windows XP and Windows NT 6 or Windows Vista. You can actually check the NT number of the Windows version that you are using by typing winver at the command prompt on any of these operating systems. During the demo at the University of Illinois, Traut showed a stripped-down version of Windows 7 dubbed MinWin that showed only the core kernel and demonstrated how Windows NT running naked so to speak, without the interface to dress itself but only as a simple web server that would show simple HTML pages, some of which illustrated the task list and properties of the MinWin demo. During the demo, Traut showed how the different tasks running, most of which are familiar to computer users such as smss.exe, csrss.exe, and svchost.exe were all there, plus the mini web server httpsrv.exe. Using Virtual PC, Traut managed to demonstrate how Windows 7 runs and its systems requirements such as 25MB on disk (compare with 14GB for a full Vista install) and 40MB of RAM. However, Windows NT is yet an on-going development. More importantly, it allowed the software developers at Microsoft to address the problems in Windows OS and enabled them to make the necessary improvements in the core and virtual machine technology without risking backwards compatibility and resource management. As a result, it became possible to correct improve performance and maximize the use of higher level of computer hardware technology but still being able to run across varying versions of Windows. Microsoft believes that with these improvements the power of computer technology will continue to increase and improve the core of the operating system and other server applications. Truly, Windows NT 7 is an idea whose time has come. This article brought to you by Computer Repair in Chicago . Learn more about our computer services provided in Chicago land area.
Linux vs Windows Operating Systems
With so many Microsoft Windows related viruses, errors, and other software problems, many average computer users are looking at alternative operating system platforms, such as Linux. It is important that users, frustrated with Windows, don t simply install a version of Llinux without knowing what they are in for. There are many important differences between Windows and Linux that anyone considering a change should be fully aware of. Herein we discuss some of the similarities and differences between Windows and Linux so you can get a better idea as to which operating system is really best for you. The major difference between Linux and Windows is the open-source nature of Linux and closed-source nature of Windows. Linux, as an open-source OS, can be modified by the user as he/ she sees fit. Open source really means that anyone can modify the underlying code, and that no one completely owns it. Microsoft Windows, on the other hand, is not an operating system you can modify easily - it was designed to work a particular way with a certain user interface as designated by Microsoft software engineers. The consequences of Linux being an open-source OS are many. Because you can modify the code, and because there are many user interfaces out there (GUIs), there are usually compatibility issues with various software applications. Some software may be designed to work with multiple Linux GUIs, while others many only be able to work with a few, or just one. Also, the open-source operating system demands that the user know how to work with and modify the program - a task that is usually very difficult for the average computer user familiar with Windows. Even the installation of Linux can be a chore if you are not familiar with Linux terminology. What I am getting at here is that Linux is great for those who are willing to take the time to learn the program, pick out and install a GUI they like (this may take a while!), and prefer choice over simple usability. Windows is easy to learn, easy to run, and does not demand a lot from its users. This OS is appropriate for a majority of the general public who simply want something that runs right out of the box with little configuration. People also want universal compatibility, and don t want to have to deal with constantly modifying their OS. Price wise, Linux is super cheap compared with Windows. For advanced users who have the desire to modify their OS, Linux is the by far the best choice. If you don t have the time or knowledge, however, stay with Microsoft Windows for the time being, and be sure to download all updates and security patches as often as possible! Bradley James is a senior editor at SciNet.cc , a website containing many helpful consumer electronics review articles. Window Dressing from the Outside Looking In
Window coverings are important to the overall look and feel of a room, of course, but when designing window treatments, don t forget to take into consideration what your overall design will look like from the outside of your home. As a general rule, window coverings should all be of a similar coloring, which will significantly improve the look of your homeâ™s exterior. For instance, a house with a blue-curtained window on one side and one with yellow curtains on the other won t look harmonious from a curbside viewpoint. Your window dressing colors should also harmonize with the homeâ™s outside color scheme. For instance, white-lined draperies are generally too light for darkâ"painted exteriors, while small printed designs, such as white on white, can be effective for adding greater interest to the outside view of a plain house. Draperies lined with light pale yellow make a house glow at night. If thatâ™s your desired effect, even sheer white or lace panels can be tinted with a pale yellow dye. If you use a patterned material, lining patterned window coverings with a heavy lining fabric stops the pattern from shining through at night when the lights are on. For privacy without bulky fabrics, etched or stained glass windows can also be great investments. You can learn the art of stained glass fairly easily, and though the stained glass windows my husband and I made for our home may not be perfect, those imperfections make them more special to us than the ones we had professionally made. Incorporating jewels into windows adds sparkle and rainbow-like effects to a room. Etched glass designs, made with rubberized stencil paper and sandblasting, is easier to do than creating stained glass windows. Etched windows look great from the street, adding an extra touch of elegance and class to the exterior appearance of your home. Creating great-looking rooms that make people feel warm and happy is an important part of decorating, but no matter what style of home you live in, you can greatly improve its overall allure by also paying special attention to how your window treatments look from the street. It s All in the Pitch
It s All in the Pitch This is true no matter who you are or what you have invented. How you pitch your need for money will largely determine if you get funding. Women use the âœemotionalâ pitch. Men do not. Women appeal to the âœfeel goodâ needs of women; men go for the utilitarian use of their products. Women do not paint pictures that men can âœseeâ. Men do. Passion not withstanding, a good pitch appeals to the logical in an illogical situation. On two recent episodes of American Inventor women were turned down left and right. Only two got passed to the next round after using the âœverbal abuseâ method. One invented an item to make wig wearing more comfortable for women going through cancer and chemotherapy. She begged the men to give âœwomen back their livesâ. An ex-school teacher invented disposable sheets for nursing homes and treated the men as errant schoolboys. Each used the âœIâ™ll-shame-you-into-itâ approach. Not good. Point in fact â" MEN hear differently than women. They listen for facts, figures and Return on Investment. Especially when an invention is women-oriented and pitched by a woman. At a recent âœpitchingâ contest, a woman presented her web site idea (for women to become more efficient in clothes shopping) to a group of 12 men. It was BRILLIANT! All the women in the audience got it - immediately! NONE OF THE JUDGES GOT IT! Women INVENT products for women. They understand the emotional appeal very well. Women have invented products and succeeded in gaining funding because they amended their âœpitchesâ to be heard by men. Some of those are: Fat Burger, Pampered Chef, Donna Karen, and Martha Stewart. These women were funded because they were able to amend their âœpitchesâ to be heard by men. If you are a female in need of venture capital here are my suggestions for a successful pitch: 1) Show how big your marketplace is in terms of volume: i.e. the big picture 2) Current dollar amounts spent on products of similar nature. 3) Not-just-for-women applications of your product or service 4) Appeal to the need to be a HERO or the need for GLORY in men 5) Stay away from an emotional appeal â" there is âœno crying in baseballâ. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! Do your research to understand the motivators in each of the venture capitalists in your audience. What are they looking for besides a high and quick rate of return? Glory? Fame? Appeal to the numbers guy with numbers. Appeal to the notoriety guy with notoriety potential, create a hero to appeal to the heroes, include first-to-market cache for those who want to go down in history as the next innovator or mentor the greatest mousetrap ever invented. Men will buy emotionally through the set of their own acceptable range of emotions that include the path to glory and riches. Don t Use Windows Vista
Don t Use Windows Vista There is a lot of advertisement about Wow the new Windows Vista. Every website going crazy by posting reviews, usability, features and the Aero available in vista; I am telling you donâ™t go for windows vista. Why I am saying you not to work with vista? Am I mad to do that? You might think so. But what I am going to say will make you to rethink about your upgrade of this new operating system from Microsoft. Microsoft has a mammoth amount of money which it is using to push its products to people who has minimum knowledge about operating systems like us. Vista was under development for past 4 years and went to a lot of delay in releasing. It is during 2005 when it was scheduled to release, there was a last minute quality issue in Windows vista which made the coders to re code the operating system. Then the bug reports which are released was also not promising about the number of bugs detected but it is been found that there are lots of bugs in the system. As all we know Microsoft products are bugged a lot, which are rectified by releasing weekly (sometimes daily) patches. Now let us see why we must not use windows vista now. Hardware upgrades Windows Vista never works on those old computers which we have for our daily use. It needs high end machines which has high end graphics accelerator card, lot of memory, high end speakers, gigabit LAN and high end processor. Why do Vista needs these high end processors when most of us have only 2Ghz processors? To experience the full blow of windows vista we need to have high processing power and high graphical rendering power. For this, Microsoft is now certifying all the computer vendors with vista certified computers. Windows Vista certified computers cost more because it has most of the high end requirements. It is not useful for the common man who does their day to day activities in computer. Software upgrades We all know the license for original software products are higher than the computer itself. If we use windows vista most of the software products need upgrade or a clean installation. We need to buy a new copy of most of our software products which we are using daily. Review Of The Window Tinting Laws In Usa
Tinting the windows of your car holds several strong benefits that have convinced a lot of people of taking that step. The first one is that window tinting will make your car 60% cooler in the hot summer days. Window tint also means safer driving, because it reduces the dangerous glare from the sun and snow. It can also save your live, because the tint holds shattered glass together, protecting the driver and passengers in case of an accident. We all know how harmful the Ultra-Violet rays are, but tinting the windows of you car blocks 99% of those damaging rays. Of course, the UV rays are harmful for the interior of your car as well, the leather starts to crack and its color fades away, but a tint will act as a sunscreen preventing all those negative effects from happening. And last but not least, tinting enhances your privacy and the security of you automobile, because burglars don t usually steal what they don t see. Considering all those benefits, the fact auto window tinting has turned into a multi-billion dollar industry comes as no surprise. Nevertheless, there is some degree of controversy surrounding this matter, related with the safety. Driving at night with tinted windows can jeopardize the driver s visibility. It also makes the job of police officers on the street much harder, because they are unable to identify the individuals in the vehicle. Those are the main reasons why the government is sceptical in its approach to window tinting laws. Basically, there are 5-6 reasons why tinting should be legal and another 100 scenarios according to which it should be illegal. To draw a line between legal and illegal auto window tint, government authorities introduced a term called VLT - Visible Light Transmission. VLT% tells you how much visible light is allowed to shine into the car and respectively how dark the tint looks. Your local state highway patrol office can give you information on what the percentage of VLT can be. As mentioned, due to all the risks and potential problems associated with car window tints, the laws on that matter are quite strict. From the federal governments point of view, any aftermarket film application is illegal. But every state is allowed to have its own laws on that, and fortunately, they have taken a more permissive attitude toward allowing darker shades of film on vehicles.
